Visio is an extremely powerful and versatile design tool which can be used for a variety of different functions.
It is probably one of the most underused packages that can provide so many benefits. Here are just some of the things you can create in it:
- Process diagrams
- Workflows/flowcharts
- Organisation charts
- Cross functional diagrams
- Network diagrams
- Office plans
- Timelines
- Brainstorming diagrams
- Cause and effect diagrams
- Road layouts
Visio has been around for some time now and if you have Microsoft Office then it is possible that you may already have Visio. If not it can be easily purchased. There are two versions of Visio, Standard costing less than £100 and Professional with more enhanced features. All of the features we talk about here and those that are covered on our course are included in Visio Standard edition.
Visio provides a diverse set of templates which contain stencils and pre drawn shapes to get you started. As Visio is a design tool there is inbuilt scaling. This means that any floor plan, network diagram or room layout you wish to design will be accurate to the millimetre when scaled up. There really are so many benefits to using Visio that any individual will gain so much from learning how to use it to its full capability.
Visio is a very flexible program that can be used across your business. By training your team on how to use the tool it will allow you to streamline your processes and see some immediate benefits in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Giving people a graphical way to view processes can help aid understanding and better communications between teams.
If you would like to improve your Visio skills, we regular Visio courses at our Gatwick training centre. Visit our programme booking page to see our current schedule, or get in touch if you’d like to organise a private learning event for your team. Come and join us and learn how to use the tool to its full capacity.
